"Dating Like Grown Ups" is the creation of writer Melissa Balmer, who's been on an adventure for a better love life for the past eight years (and happy to report it's been a fascinating and rewarding journey). Melissa has written hundreds of dating, romance and sex advice articles doing her best to offer honest, straight-forward, practical and kind information with a spirit of fun. She believes in playing fair. She doesn't feel one sex is superior to the other and feels since we're stuck here together we might as well learn to celebrate both our differences and shared humanity and the great joy of chemistry and connection.
For over four years Melissa was the regular weekly advice columnist for the online site Seduction Insider (prior to it being sold and going in a different direction), and a contributor to the Dating Insider book. She has also written a romance column for both Long Beach Magazine and Seal Beach Magazine. Yes, she is currently working on the Dating Like Grown Ups book.
Melissa knows she owes some debt to Speed Seduction artist Ross Jeffries. If she hadn't been so repelled by his negative energy and repeated attempts to engage her in conversation at local hang outs in Marina Del Rey years ago she might never have decided to throw her hat in the ring and offer a different view. She feels the popular pick up artist and seduction techniques (used by either men or women, and yes, both can use them) only take one so far. She also feels they can feed on our fear of lack and further drive a wedge of distrust between the sexes. She is instead a big fan of the writing of Evan Marc Katz and Susie Bright.
